HAKKASAN GROUP LAUNCHES YAUATCHA CITY IN LONDON’S BROADGATE CIRCLE
Launching on 20th May, Yauatcha City will be one of the key restaurants to join Broadgate Circle, the new culinary destination in the City. Located on the border of East London and the Square Mile, Yauatcha City will be the latest restaurant by Hakkasan Group, leader in global hospitality, dining, nightlife and entertainment, and the second Yauatcha in London following the success of its Michelin-starred restaurant in Soho.
Yauatcha City will be an all-day dim sum dining experience, ideal for a light lunch, larger feasts with wok dishes or social drinks with friends or colleagues. Guests will enjoy the choice of two bars, two spacious outside terraces and a large main dining area. Yauatcha City’s Chinese kitchen will be led by Chef Tong Chee Hwee, who holds a total of 12 years’ experience with the group, initially as Head Chef of the original Hakkasan Hanway Place and then bringing his skill and creativity to the group globally as Executive Head Chef.
The menu at Yauatcha City will embody the Chinese dim sum teahouse concept, where friends and family gather to catch up over excellent dim sum, wok dishes, tea and cocktails. It will present authentic Cantonese dishes with a modern influence, offering a wide range of steamed, baked, grilled and fried dim sum such as Scallop shui mai, Prawn and beancurd cheung fun and Venison puffs. To complement the cuisine, the drinks menu will comprise 38 types of tea, as well as cocktails inspired by Chinese ingredients and a broad wine and Champagne list.
A first for the company, Yauatcha City will see the launch of a standalone Yauatcha Patisserie on the level below the main restaurant, where Chinese heritage and modern European cooking techniques have inspired the pastry team, led by Executive Pastry Chef Graham Hornigold, to create an array of macarons, petits gateaux and chocolates.
Designed by French designers GBRH, the 198 cover restaurant is 7,220 square foot with two bars and two terraces, each seating 50 guests. The restaurant will encompass the key design elements and characteristics from Yauatcha Soho including aquariums, starlit ceilings, visible kitchens and the blue and pink palette that has become synonymous with the restaurant. The light environment and deep booths will emulate the “chatter shop” atmosphere of a traditional dim sum eatery in Hong Kong, with deep booths providing a captivating drinking and dining space. Yauatcha will continue its longstanding relationship with designer Diane von Furstenberg with the managers and Maitre D wearing her exquisite dresses.
Yauatcha City will be located at Broadgate Circle EC2, and will be open Monday to Saturday for lunch, dinner and drinks, midday to 11:30pm. Reservations will be open from 20th April.
